Leimen has about 27,100 residents and lies directly south of Heidelberg in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The town became internationally known as the hometown of tennis player Boris Becker. Former limestone quarries in the Nussloch-Leimen area have left distinctive scarred hillsides, some now used for nature conservation. The St. Ilgen district adds a second centre.
Heidelberg is immediately to the north. Wiesloch lies to the south. Nussloch is to the southwest. Sandhausen borders to the east on the Rhine plain. The Bergstrasse (mountain road) runs along the Odenwald edge nearby. The S-Bahn Rhein-Neckar connects Leimen to Heidelberg and Mannheim.
