Schwaebisch Gmuend: Gold and Silver City, Staufer Heritage, and the Oldest Hohenstaufen Town
Schwaebisch Gmuend has a population around 61,000 and lies in the Rems valley in Baden-Wuerttemberg, about 50 kilometres east of Stuttgart. The city claims to be the oldest Hohenstaufen (Staufer) town, founded in the early 12th century.
