Weinstadt has about 26,200 residents and lies in the Rems-Murr-Kreis of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The municipality was formed in 1975 by merging five wine villages: Beutelsbach, Endersbach, Grossheppach, Schnait, and Strümpfelbach. The name Weinstadt (wine town) reflects the surrounding vineyards. The Rems valley's south-facing slopes produce Trollinger and Riesling. Endersbach is the largest constituent village.
Waiblingen is about 5 kilometres west. Stuttgart is roughly 15 kilometres southwest. Schorndorf lies to the east. Fellbach is nearby. The Rems cycle path runs through the valley floor. The Skulpturenpfad (sculpture path) connects the villages through the vineyards.
