Zirndorf: Playmobil FunPark, Alte Veste Battle Site, and the Franconian Toy Town West of Nuernberg
Zirndorf has about 25,700 inhabitants and lies in the Fuerth district of Bayern, directly west of Nuernberg. The Playmobil FunPark, a theme park operated by toy manufacturer Brandstätter Group (now Geobra), draws families. The Alte Veste, a ruined fortification, was the site of a 1632 battle during the Thirty Years' War between Wallenstein and Gustavus Adolphus. Zirndorf's economy combines toy production with general manufacturing.
Fuerth is about 5 kilometres east. Nuernberg's western suburbs adjoin. Oberasbach is directly to the south. Cadolzburg lies to the west. The Bibert stream flows through the town. The Nuernberg S-Bahn connects Zirndorf to the city centre.
