Potsdam: Sanssouci Palace, Film Studios, and Brandenburg's Capital Next Door to Berlin
Potsdam is the capital of Brandenburg with a population around 182,000. Sanssouci Palace, built for Frederick the Great in 1747 as his summer retreat, anchors a UNESCO World Heritage ensemble of palaces and gardens covering 500 hectares. The Glienicker Bruecke (Bridge of Spies) between Potsdam and Berlin-Wannsee was the Cold War's most famous spy exchange point.
