Eschborn lies immediately west of Frankfurt am Main in the Main-Taunus-Kreis of Hessen, with about 21,640 inhabitants. Despite its small size, the town hosts the German headquarters of Deutsche Boerse, Ernst & Young, and numerous other financial and technology companies, attracted by lower trade tax rates than Frankfurt. Office towers along the Suedring and Mergenthalerallee create an urban commercial landscape incongruous with the town's otherwise suburban character.
Frankfurt's Messeturm is visible just a few kilometres to the east. Kronberg im Taunus lies to the north. The S-Bahn provides frequent connections to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. Eschborn's daytime working population far exceeds its residential population, creating a pattern of commuter flows that reverses the typical suburban direction.
