Gallus is a neighbourhood in Frankfurt am Main in Hessen with a population around 42,000. Named after the Galluswarte, a medieval watchtower from the 15th century, the district developed as a working-class residential area for nearby railway and industrial workers. The Galluswarte tower still stands on Mainzer Landstrasse and is one of Frankfurt's surviving Landwehr towers.
The Europaviertel, built on the former railway freight yard north of the Gallus, is one of Germany's largest inner-city development projects. The Skyline Plaza shopping centre and new residential towers have changed the area's character. The Messe Frankfurt, one of the world's largest trade fair complexes, borders the neighbourhood to the west. The Gallus retains a diverse, multicultural population and affordable housing stock compared to central Frankfurt. Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof lies directly east. Adult companionship follows Hessen's regulatory framework.
