Wittenau is a largely residential neighbourhood in Berlin's Bezirk Reinickendorf, with about 24,700 inhabitants. The U8 line terminates at Wittenau station, providing a direct underground connection to central Berlin. The Karl-Bonhoeffer-Nervenklinik, a former psychiatric hospital complex now partly converted to residential and medical use, occupies a large site in the district. Wittenau's building stock mixes interwar social housing blocks with postwar single-family homes and more recent apartment developments. The Nordgraben drainage canal runs along the district's edge.
