Halle lies in the Kreis Guetersloh of Nordrhein-Westfalen, at the southern foot of the Teutoburg Forest. About 21,450 people live here. The town became widely known through the Gerry Weber fashion company, headquartered here since the 1970s. The OWL Arena (formerly Gerry Weber Stadion), a tennis venue with a retractable roof, hosted ATP tournament events for years and also stages concerts and other events.
Bielefeld is roughly 15 kilometres northeast. Guetersloh is about 20 kilometres southeast. The Teutoburg Forest ridge runs immediately north of the town, offering hiking along the Hermannsweg. The landscape south of Halle is flat Westphalian farmland.
Not to be confused with Halle an der Saale in Sachsen-Anhalt, this Westphalian Halle is considerably smaller and entirely different in character.
