Rinteln: Weser Renaissance Facades, Kloster Moellenbeck Monastery, and the Weserbergland Town Between the Bueckeberg and Weser Hills
Rinteln has roughly 25,600 residents and lies on the Weser in the Schaumburg district of Niedersachsen. The old town preserves Weser Renaissance stone facades from the 16th and 17th centuries. Kloster Moellenbeck, a former Augustinian monastery nearby, hosts cultural events. The Weserbergland hills rise on both sides of the river. Rinteln had a university from 1621 until its closure in 1810.
Minden is about 25 kilometres north. Hameln lies roughly 20 kilometres southeast. Bueckeburg is to the northeast. Bad Eilsen is nearby. The Weser here flows through a gap between the Bueckeberg and the Wesergebirge. The Weser cycle path passes through the town.
