Overath: Aggertal Limestone Cave, Steinenbrueck Celtic Settlement Site, and the Bergisches Land Commuter Municipality East of Koeln
Overath has about 27,200 residents and lies in the Agger valley within the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis of Nordrhein-Westfalen. The Aggertalhoehle, a limestone cave with stalactite formations, draws visitors to the Agger valley. An Iron Age Celtic settlement at Steinenbrueck has been excavated and partly reconstructed. Overath functions primarily as a commuter municipality for workers heading to Koeln.
Koeln is roughly 25 kilometres west. Bergisch Gladbach lies to the northwest. Lindlar is to the northeast. Much is to the south. The Agger river cuts through wooded Bergisches Land hills. The RB25 regional train provides a direct connection to Koeln's main station. Overath consists of the main village and numerous smaller hamlets in the surrounding valleys.
