Wersten: Suedpark Recreation Grounds, Volksgarten Open-Air, and the Duesseldorf Southern District Between Bilk and Benrath
Wersten is a southern district of Duesseldorf with roughly 27,200 inhabitants. The Suedpark, one of Duesseldorf's largest parks, combines formal gardens, open meadows, and woodland. The Volksgarten, a smaller park, hosts open-air events in summer. Wersten sits between Bilk to the north and Holthausen to the south, with residential streets predominating.
Duesseldorf Hauptbahnhof is about 5 kilometres north. Benrath and its Baroque Schloss are to the south. The Duesseldorf-Koelner Rheinebene (Rhine plain) stretches flat to the west. The U74 and U77 Stadtbahn lines connect Wersten to the city centre and surrounding districts. Post-war apartment blocks and 1960s housing estates define much of the building stock.
