Dessau: Bauhaus Birthplace, Garden Kingdom, and Saxony-Anhalt's Modernist Shrine

Prince Leopold III Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau created it as a model of Enlightenment ideals. Hugo Junkers built his pioneering aircraft in Dessau; the Technikmuseum documents aviation history. The city merged with Rosslau in 2007. Population decline since reunification has been severe, from over 100,000 to around 68,000. Adult companionship follows Saxony-Anhalt's regulatory approach.
