Glauchau: Schloss Forderglauchau Textile Museum, Mulde Valley Industry, and the Sachsen Manufacturing Town Between Zwickau and Chemnitz
Glauchau has about 26,500 residents and lies on the Zwickauer Mulde in the Zwickau district of Sachsen. The Schloss Forderglauchau, a Renaissance castle, houses the local museum and a textile collection documenting Glauchau's weaving history. Textile manufacturing drove the town's growth in the 19th century. The Schloss Hinterglauchau, a second castle, stands directly behind it.
Zwickau is about 15 kilometres south. Chemnitz lies roughly 30 kilometres northeast. Meerane is to the west. Crimmitschau is nearby to the south. The Mulde valley provides the main landscape corridor. Glauchau's population has declined significantly since reunification, following the pattern of many Saxon industrial towns.
