Klotzsche: Airport District in Dresden's North
Klotzsche is a district in northern Dresden, Sachsen, with about 21,060 inhabitants. The Flughafen Dresden is located here, and the presence of the airport along with technology companies in the surrounding industrial parks gives the district a different character from Dresden's residential south. Klotzsche was an independent municipality until 1999, and its village-like core around the Koenigswald remains distinct from the newer commercial development near the airport.
Dresden's city centre is about 10 kilometres south. The Dresdner Heide, a large urban forest, borders to the east. Radebeul lies to the southwest. The Elbe valley is a few kilometres to the south, beyond the Heide.
